Abstract

13,531. Butler, W. M., and Belcher, W. J. May 25, [date applied.for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. [Patent of Addition to No. 13,424, A.D. 1908.] Chains covered with india-rubber &c.-In friction drive chains of the type described in Specification No. 13,424, A.D. 1908, the encircling strips of frictional material d, are arranged so that the portions disposed between the chain links b, and the sides of the V-groove are tapered in crosssection. The chain is made up of blocks a, and parallel side links b, the latter being provided with projections c, on either the upper or lower edge. The projections pass through, and are clinched against, metal plates e, with serrated borders f to grip the frictional material d. The strips d are cut of the cross-sectional shape shown in Fig. 3 or 4, according as the ends are to be fastened on the under or the upper side of the chain, tapering parts g being provided in each case.
