Abstract

12,791. Forbes, G. June 15. Range - finders ;telemeters.-Relates to stereoscopic range - finders of the type described in Specifications No. 5267, A.D. 1901, No. 12,422, A.D. 1902, and No. 4258, A.D. 1903. The base a carries a single Prandl prism b at each end reflecting into a removable binocular f, which has a single erecting-prism h for both telescopes and in which the fiduciary pictures are protected, as by being mounted between the prism h and the field lenses j which are also made thick so that any dust on the exposed surface is out of focus. The eye lenses of the binocular are made in one with the rhomboidal prisms k which are used to allow interpupillary adjustment, and the eyepieces are mounted on a frame l<1> which is adjusted for focusing by a wheel l<2>. The means for adjusting one image of the range-finder consists of a pair of wedge-shaped prisms c, c<1>, Fig. 1, mounted in supports c<2>, c<3> and rotated, when desired, simultaneously but in opposite directions by appropriate gearing. One support carries, a pointer and the other a range scale.
