Abstract
9941. Florian, V. May 7. Cutting-out.-In a press for cutting out collars for military tunics, means are provided for punching holes for receiving hooks and eyes. The cutters 6 are adjustably arranged in a holder 8 by means of set-screws, and are pressed down by a handoperated and spring-returned lever 14, into a matrix 4 adjustably fixed on the guide 3. By inserting one or more supplementary cutter pieces across the cutters 6, it is possible to cut out collars of different sizes. The holder 8 is guided at each end by a screw-bolt 10 encircled by a coil spring. A strip a of adhesive stiff linen is wetted by a sponge, and pressed on a sheet of oilcloth b, and the sheet passes with the linen strip between the perforating-rollers 18, 19. These rollers are moved by a disk 22 at the end of the roller shaft 17<a>, which disk has four projections, each actuated in turn from the lever 14 by the spring-pressed pawl 23, so that, at each descent of the punch, the disk is rotated a quarter-turn and the rollers 18, 19 feed the fabric forwards. Hooks and eyes are inserted in the holes in the fabric before it reaches the cutting-out press, which has recesses to receive the hooks and eyes and prevent them from being crushed.
