Abstract

9775. Magnolia Anti-Friction Metal Co. of Great Britain, and Peckham, E. May 5. Locomotive railway and tramway vehicles.-In a single-axle pivotal truck, the body is mounted upon the main truck frame through an intermediate frame. The mam frame is suspended, with lateral movement, from the axle-boxes, and the motor is mounted so as to accommodate itself to this movement. The trucks are connected together so as to permit independent swivelling, and brake mechanism is described which is not interfered with by this swivelling. The car body is mounted by side ball bearings 28 and a king-bolt on an intermediate frame 1, which is carried through springs 11 by the truck frame 2. The upper plate 27 of the bearings has a hook 29, which engages a projection 30 on the lower plate 28 to prevent unseating of the car body. The truck frame 2 is carried by the spring plank 24 suspended from the axleboxes 6 by links 7 so as to pennit lateral movement of the truck. The motor 4 is sleeved to the axle and is suspended also from the spring-mounted bar 25, which is arranged to move laterally relatively to the truck by the pivotal connexion of the bolts 33 to the bolt 34. The two trucks supporting the car are connected together by a rod 13 provided with rollers 14 auapted to run on radius bars 12 secured to the truck frames. Centralizing spring-controlled rods 15, secured to the body at 32, assist in returning the trucks to the normal position for running on a straight track. The brake rigging comprises a lever 16 and pull-rods 17 having a roller connexion 18 with radius bars 18<1>. A rock-shaft 20 is connected by rods 19 with the radius bar 18<1> and by rods 21 with the brake beam 23.
