Abstract
7437. Evered, S. April 4. Curtains, drawing and suspending.-A flat curtain rod or pole a carrying runners f as described in Specification No. 20,257, A.D. 1905, is secured to a wall &c. c by screws b passing through countersunk holes in the rod and through tubular distancepieces d. The distance-pieces may take the form shown in Fig. 5, the reduced end d' being inserted in a tapered hole in the rod, and punched or pressed so as to form a countersunk seat for the head of the fixing-screw, as shown in Fig. 6 ; or the distance-piece may be formed in one with the rod by drawing or pressing operations. A washer may be formed on the end of the distance-piece near the wall ; or a separate washer may be used. The plate f carrying the rollers f<4> of the runner is formed of sheet metal, stamped and bent so as to form a central eye or hook f<1> to support a curtain hook or ring, and bent vertical edges f<2> to prevent entanglement of the runners. The lower part of the plate may carry a roller, or may be bent backwards to engage the bottom edge of the rod, as shown. A roller with a back flange only may be employed in place of the grooved or flanged roller shown.
