Abstract

6228. Grob, H. March 20, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Distributing.-In a train lighting and heating. system, the voltage of the variable-speed dynamo is maintained higher than that of the work circuit by inserting a resistance between the dynamo and the work circuit, so that one half of a battery may be charged while the other half is being discharged against the pressure of the work circuit to energize the field of the dynamo. The field E of the constant-potential variable-speed dynamo is energized by the difference of pressure between an independent source Z<2> and the voltage of the point S in the work circuit. The constant voltage of the point A<1>, to which the battery Z<1> is connected, is maintained higher than that of the point S by inserting a resistance R between them. To charge the battery Z' when the lamps H are not in circuit, a resistance T is substituted for them, while a resistance U greater than the resistance R replaces the latter by means of a switch S. The charging voltage of the dynamo may be further increased by passing the current through a second armature, while the current between the battery Z<2> and the point S may be employed to energize the field of an exciter.
