Spray-producers and spreaders. -In the type of revolving sprinklers for distributing liquid sewage over bacteria or filter beds in which radial distributing- arms fed from a central supply are caused to rotate by the reaction of the issuing jets, the usual central vertical spindle or support is replaced by a skeleton framework of tubes and wires revolving around a circular track. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, a number of tubes a, in this case eight, stayed and kept at their proper distances apart by wire ties d to form a pyramidal structure, are connected at their upper ends with a ring c, and are provided at their lower ends with brackets e, fixed to the distributing-pipes n and carrying rollers g which travel round a circular track h supported on concrete blocks l. The perforated radial distributing-tubes n are kept at their proper distances apart by wires r, Fig. 2, and are supported horizontally by wires p connected to the middle points of the wires r, and to the tubes a at the points s. These wires may be provided with screw couplings for tightening them. The distributing-pipes n are connected at the centre of the structure to a cap t, Fig. 6, revolving in a stuffing- box in the top of the supply pipe u<1>, which receives the sewage from the stationary pipe u<2>. The distributing - pipes are made of smaller diameter towards their outer ends. In a modification, the pyramidal structure is replaced by a revolving structure formed of struts or jibs extending upwardly and outwardly from the base and stayed by means of wires. When very large, the revolving structure may have one or more additional roller tracks. The pyramidal structure may be replaced by an horizontal ring, or by two or more concentric rings formed of tubes braced together and mounted on rollers, and carrying outwardly and upwardly projecting struts forming a structure from which the distributing-tubes are supported by wires.
