Abstract

1344. Salzer, F. Jan. 21, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Chromium, depositing.-Chromium is deposited from an electrolyte containing a mixture of chromic acid and chromium oxide in equal weights, or with less chromium oxide but not less than half the weight of the chromic acid, the proportions being maintained as constant as possible throughout the process. An acid may be added to improve the conductivity of the solution. The bath may be made by a partial reduction of chromic acid by electrolysis, or by simply mixing the oxide and acid. In the Specification in the original form, as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), it is stated that the baths may be made by the partial reduction of chromic acid by purely chemical means, or by the partial oxidation of chromium salts, and that the character of the deposit may be varied by varying the concentration and the acid addition. This subject-matter does not appear in the Complete Specification as accepted.
