Abstract

487. Hulot, A. H. J. P. Jan. 8, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Tyres, pneumatic &c.-A flexible non-skidding reinforced band for pneumatic or other wheel tyres, the soles and heels of boots and shoes, horseshoes, &c., comprises a flexible base made of leather, india-rubber, woven material, cork, or the composition described in Specification No. 21,861, A.D. 1906, [Abridgment Class India-rubber &c.], the base being formed by several superposed layers of these materials and having steel wires running through it. The ends of the wires may extend beyond the free surface, being then bent back upon it ; or they may be flush with the surface. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement in which woven fabric 1 is covered by a layer of india-rubber 2, in which is fixed a layer of suitable flexible material 3. Wires 4 of soft or tempered steel and of various shapes are run through the three layers, or only through two layers, the projecting ends being turned down in any direction.
