Abstract

412. Steynis, J., and Chaumat, H. J. E. Jan. 25, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Gases, treating electrically.- In the production of ozone from air that has been cooled by expansion with external work, an ozonizer is used comprising a metal casing, Fig. 3 ; this casing has two insulated electrodes, and is provided with a jacket B to which cold liquid may be admitted, and is separated from the ozonizing-block by glass sheets 1. The ozonizing-block comprises metal strips 2, 2<1>, which are separated by strips of glass and let into channelled porcelain blocks 4, 4<1>, the strips 2 being fixed and the strips 2<1> adjustable. The high-tension current is supplied by a transformer having an interrupter 7 and a circuit-breaker in the secondary circuit. The electro-magnet Z in the primary circuit blows out any arc formed at the gap 7. The ozonizer is fitted with a pressure gauge m and thermometer t. Another similar ozonizer may be attached at the exit pipe of the first one. Specification No. 18,184, A.D. 1908, is referred to.
