Abstract
28,177. Pieper, N. Dec. 21. Stocks.-Relates to automatic pistols of the type comprising a breech casing containing the bolt and surmounted by a slide, and a fixed barrel adjacent to the casing and carrying the reaction spring and its rod, and in which the whole of these parts are fixed to the body, the general arrangement being similar to that of the pistols described in Specification No. 9379A, A.D. 1905. The present invention consists in the application to this pistol of fastening-devices of the type described in Specification No. 9379, A.D. 1905. A projection e, Fig. 1, on the barrel a is recessed to engage a pin h on the body b; a similar projection f engages a pin k and extends downwards between two ears l on the breech chamber c, the parts being connected by a pin q, as shown in Fig. 3. A hook-shaped projection g on the part c receives a flattened pivot pin p, operated by means of a lever or button n to secure the parts when the pin is in the position shown in Fig. 1, or to release them when turned through a half-revolution. Several modifications are described. In one, the front locking-parts e, k are dispensed with, and the flattened pin p is arranged to engage with the rear part f of the barrel and the ears l of the breech casing. In a second modification, the pin k is dispensed with, and the recess in the part g is vertical and opens downwards. In a third modification, the rear barrel projection f, Fig. 7, is shortened and acts only as an abutment, and a locking-part l engages a pin k carried by the body. A fourth modification is shown in Fig. 8, in which the pin p engages a projection f on the barrel and is turned through a quarter-revolution to release the parts.
