Abstract
24,741. Priestley, F., and Frost, W. Nov. 8. Smoke-consuming; fire-bridges.-The fire-bridge of a steam-generator or like furnace consists of a row of curved hollow metal fire-clay or like blocks a, Fig. 2, which are modifications of those described in Specification No. 17,414, A.D. 1898. The blocks, the upper ends of which are spaced apart, as at a<2>, Fig. 1, by their projecting lower ends a<1>, are fitted to an horizontal grid b with a hit-and-miss draught regulator c. When working under natural draught, the combustion products pass partly through the blocks, entering by the apertures a<3> facing the grate ; when the forced-draught apparatus described in Specification No. 22,944, A.D. 1900, is in use, the air passes into the furnace through the apertures a<3>, as well as through the apertures a<5>. In water-tube boilers, destructors, &c., the mouths a<5> of the blocks are directed forward over the grate. [Reference has been directed under Section 7 of Patents &c. Act, 1907, to Specifications No. 4098, A.D. 1881, No. 5676, A.D. 1887, No. 9069, A.D. 1896, No. 9030, A,D. 1900, and Nos. 14,050 and 14,144, A.D. 1902.]
