Abstract
23,214. Bilbrough, S. B. Oct. 21. Pressure gauges. -In an apparatus more particularly designed for weighing mine trucks and their contents, the weigh rails are supported by a movable framework which transmits the pressure of the load to a plate bearing on a flexible chamber containing liquid. Fig. 6 shows a flexible chamber T, which may be constructed of annealed copper when intended for heavy loads. The ends of the chamber are closed by pieces t, and a disk V is used to ensure plane surfaces of contact. A pipe t<2> is provided for filling the chamber, and another u leads to a pressure-gauge U. In a modification the load-transmitting disk Y, Fig. 9, bears on three separate pieces W of piping, which communicate through a pipe w<1> with the gauge X. The pressure gauge may, as shown in Fig. 11, consist of a Bourdon tube b the free end of which actuates, through levers b<5>, b<4> an arm b<6> with a pawl for driving the ratchet-wheel c<3>.
