Abstract

18,028. Martin, T., McCue, W., and Bernerd, W. Aug. 8. B r a k e s .-The angle-cock A, placed between the trainpipe and the hose coupling C of railway brakes, is provided with a cock or valve e through which the train-pipe on both sides of the angle-cock A is opened to the atmosphere when the cock A is closed A port i, Fig. 1, placed in one side of the opening in the plug d, communicates between the train-pipe and a pipe leading to a three-way valve B, and a link o connects the handle f of the cock A with the lever of the valve B. When the cock A is closed, the valve B is turned into the position shown in Fig. 6, thereby connecting the train-pipe to a discharge pipe l through the port i and pipe j, and through a pipe k. The discharge pipe l is provided with a whistle or other alarm, and with a valve n for preventing the escape of air during uncoupling.
