Abstract
17,666. Pfister, T. Aug. 2. Ornamenting glass and metal surfaces.-In the production of cloisonnÚ and mosaic work without metal wire or ribbons, sand or pulverized glass is placed in grooves in a pattern plate, which is then inverted on to the foundation or surface to be decorated, thus forming ridges. The whole surface is then faced with fusible material, the spaces are filled with transparent or opaque material, and the whole again coated with a fusible material. For producing mosaics, the ridges are produced as before on a temporary slab, pieces of glass, marble, &c. are inserted in the spaces, and the whole is covered with cement and can be removed from the slab when the cement has set. The contours may be removed to form a relief pattern.
