Abstract
13,804. Siemens, F. C. June 14. Open-hearth furnaces; gaseous-fuel fittings.-In regenerative gas-fired furnaces in which gas is supplied alternately through ports at each end of the furnace, a gas-producer, or set of producers, is arranged at each end, instead of behind the furnace as shown in Specification No. 11,433, A.D. 1896. The producers f are connected by a flue g, arranged either above or below the hearth, in order that each end of the furnace may obtain its supply from both producers if necessary. This arrangement of producers facilitates the use of a charging-machine which is mounted on a platform at the rear of the furnace.
