Colour photography ; positives, producing directly; photo-mechanical printing.-The plate in the camera is exposed through three filters of violet, green, and orange colour, passing across the aperture in regular sequence at a suitable speed, say 150 per minute. The filters are most conveniently mounted on a rotating disk. The exposed plate so obtained is positive as to the colours in the picture, but-negative as to the black and white. To obtain a complete positive, the said exposed plate is recopied through the rotating filters. Prints are obtained by printing on to a gelatin plate, dyeing successively in blue, red, and yellow baths, and then transferring on to a paper or like support. The one plate also serves to obtain the blocks for threecolour printing, by printing in the ordinary way and using the coloured inks required, only one block being necessary for printing the three colours.
