9997. Adamson, D. April 30. Taps dies.-Dies are cut by a master tap having a diameter of not more than 85 per cent of the article to be screwed by the dies. The dies are preferably formed d from bars having a thickness of at least 33 per cent of the diameter of the tap used in cutting them, and are cut while held in the die-head or similar holder with their centre lines radial, the resultant dies thus having the desired cutting and clearance angles. The rear portions of the dies are removed as shown in Fig. 2.
