Moulding bricks &c.-A mould for forming cement bricks or blocks comprises a frame or bed a carrying hinged sides c, c<1> secured to spindles b supported in lugs a'. The sides c are geared together and are operated simultaneonsly by levers b<1>, while the front side c' is capable of being swung down into the vertical position to facilitate removal of a moulded block. When forming a block, the mould sides are held together by a yoke d resting upon lugs c<4>; the yoke is provided with lugs e<1> adapted to support a hopper e', through which material is supplied to the mould. The bottom of the mould is formed by a pallet n having raised end portions n<1> adapted to form recesses to facilitate handling of the finished blocks. Cores h<2> are carried by a frame h, which is raised and lowered on guide-rods g by means of links m connected to levers l secured to a shaft k, which is rocked by a lever i. The cores are held in their raised position during moulding by means of a gravity catch o engaging with the lever i. In operation, the mould is closed by the yoke d, the hopper e is placed over the mould, and the cores h<2> are raised into position. Material is then fed in through the hopper e and tamped ; the cores are lowered, the yoke d and hopper e removed, and the sides c swung into an horizontal position by means of the levers b<1>, the front side c<1> being then swung down and the moulded block removed. Faced blocks may be produced by inserting embossed plates in the mould. False bottoms and sides may be inserted to produce blocks of varying size, and the sides may be grooved to receive partition plates.
