2298. McPhail, A. M. Jan. 30. Name-plates.-Pencils or pen handles are provided with a plate or tablet on which the owner's name is writen or otherwise indicated. The plate, which may be of papier mÔchÚ, vegetable ivory, celluloid, white wood, or other suitable material, is slid into an undercut recess b in the pencil or penholder, and is secured by means of small nails, or by glue or other adhesive. The recess b may be omitted and the plate applied directly to the surface of the article. The name-plate may also be in the form of a collar e, Fig. 4, or a spring clip f, Fig. 5.
