Abstract

217. Marenghi, C. Jan. 3. Ornamental effects.-Automatic musical instruments are combined with means for producing luminous effects. A series of electric switches a, b, &c., controlling a series of circuits x<a>, x<b>, &c., each including a number of incandescent lamps, are operated by pneumatic motors 3 from the different wind-chests of the automatic organ or pianoforte, in accordance with the orchestration or character of the music performed. The tubes 5 &c. supplying the pneumatics 3 are controlled by the valves 15, 18, as shown. Thus, one set of lamps corresponds to the speaking part of the instruments representing the clarinet, another to the cornet, and so on. Coloured lamps and screens may be employed.
