Abstract

28,362. Lamb, Van B. Dec. 2. Brakes.-To permit a brake shoe 11, that has a tapering tenon 12 on one side and a corresponding mortise 15 in the other, to be mounted on an old type of brake head 1, there is provided an intermediate member 6, preferably formed in two parts 9. 10 having mortises 13, 14. The parts 9, 10 are slid on the tenon 12 on the shoe 11, and are secured in the head by a key 8 passing through perforated lugs 7 which fit in a recess 3 in the head. When the member 6 is in two parts, the tenon 12 tapers towards each end, as described in Specification No. 28,358, A.D. 1906 ; but when the member 6 is in one piece, the tenon 12 and the corresponding mortise in the member 6 taper continuously in one direction.
