Abstract

28,255. Ravn, C. V. H. L. Oct. 22, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. No Patent granted (Sealingfee not paid). Gas or explosive-vapour engines.-The power of engines having a vaporizer d in communication with the cylinder a is increased by introducing into the cylinder during the suction-stroke an additional charge of liquid fuel with or without air, which does not come into contact with the hot walls of the vaporizer and does not explode, but burns in the oxygen remaining after the explosion of the ordinary charge which is admitted to the vaporizer. The supplementary fuel charge may be in a pulverized state ; it may be introduced into the passage j leading to the air-inlet valve, or through a special overload valve. Cylinder dimensions may be less for a given power if such supplementary fuel charge is used for normal full-load working.
