Abstract
28,108. Effront, J. Dec. 10. Methyl alcohol.-Distillers' washes are treated for the production of ammonia by distilling in an acid medium with heated air or other gas at 170- 200‹ C., and afterwards neutralizing the residue and distilling at 700‹ C. with superheated steam and air. Mineral acids, acid salts, such as bisulphates, superphosphates, and resins may be used for acidification. Methyl alcohol is also obtained by this process. When necessary, salts may be removed from the products obtained by distillation in an acid medium by treatment with hot water.
