Abstract

23,055. Oxford, A. J. Oct. 18. Malt compositions.-Yeast and yeast products are liquefied and sterilized by heating, as described in Specifications No 1164 A.D. 1900, and No. 5936, A.D. 1901, [Abridgment Class Agricultural appliances, Farmyard &c.], or by the action of chemicals, such as common salt, preferably with heating, and are then dried, either alone or combined with other substances, such as molasses, blood, flesh, &c., in a thin film upon the surfaces of internallyheated, revolving cylinders. The process is applicable to yeast from which part of the ingredients has been removed, and the product may be added to linseed meal &c. as set forth in the abovementioned Specification, with or without the addition of bone meal, molasses, flesh, &c. According to the Provisional Specification, (1) the apparatus described in Specification No. 28,087, A.D. 1903, [Abridgment Class Drying], may be used, (2) the yeast &c. may be filtered and heated before being dried, and (3) the process is applicable to drying mixtures such as yeast, cereals, &c. as set forth in the above-mentioned Specification, bone meal, flesh, water, and blood, the whole being allowed to ferment if desired.
