Abstract
22,821. Leach, J. Oct. 16. Heel protectors.-Relates to a heel protector of the kind wherein one or more pads of rubber &c. are detachably held by a plate conforming to the curvature of the boot heel, and are retained in position by a filling-piece disposed between the ends of the plate. This filling-piece, Figs. 3 and 4, is let into the breast of the heel so as to be flush with the surface, as shown in Fig. 2<B>, and is secured there by a screw &c. Fig. 6 shows the filling-piece used in conjunction with a pad consisting of a number of independent sections, while Figs. 11 and 12 are views of a clip used in a similar manner to secure a protector, consisting of a pad or pads slid on to a wedge-shaped piece attached to the heel. This wedge is made with projecting pieces at the rear, as shown in Fig. 9, so as to act as a stop for the pad.
