Abstract

20,818. Wise, Sir W. L., [Skodawerke Akt.-Ges.]. Sept. 19. Elastic-fluid turbines.-A blade-attaching device for steam turbines is shown in Figs. 1, 3, 6, and 7. The blade is stamped out of a sheet-metal blank and is pressed into shape so that projections b, c form a U-shaped root, the tongue c being adapted to enter an inclined slot in the edge of the wheel disk and the wings c being adapted to engage the sides of the disk. Rings f are placed over the wings and the whole is secured by rivets e. Circumferential projections a fit against the edge of the disk and stiffen the blades. The edge of the disk may have ridges i, Fig. 8, which are flattened out against the wings of the blades to stiffen the blades, and the wings may then be shortened and may be secured by only one rivet. The back c may be in a line with the blade, or it may be inclined thereto as shown in Figs. 3 and 6.
