20,696. Gimson & Co., and Keats, S. Sept. 18. Cutting-machines for leather &c.-A cutting-out press is provided with means for the adjustment of both the bed and the platen. The underside of the bed or table 2, Fig. 3, is constructed with a convex or curved face 5 adapted to engage a correspondinglyshaped recess 6 at the top of a standard 7. The table is also provided with a series of wings 10 connected to lugs 12 by screw bolts 11, nuts 14 serving for horizontal adjustment. A screw stalk 16 on the underside of the table may be engaged by lock-nuts 17 to maintain the table in its adjusted position. To allow of the use of knives of various depths, the operating-platen 18 is mounted so as to be vertically adjustable. For this purpose, the platen 18 is provided with an upper inclined face 20 adapted to engage a slide along the lower face 19 of a block 21 secured to the reciprocating arm 1 of the press, the adjustment being secured by the operation of a screw rod 24 passing through a lug 25 on the block 21.
