Abstract

19,671. Waite, J. Sept. 4. Tyres, pneumatic.-A series of parallel air-tubes f, Fig. 1, preferably five in number, is inflated simultaneously by means of a valve a, formed with a main stem a' and branches b. Each branch is closed by a rubber cap d, Figs. 2 and 15, held in position by a washer e, and a cuplike recess g is formed at the end so that if one tube is deflated the others expand automatically, or on further inflation, close the valve branch. The shank above the flange is formed with flattened portions on opposite sides, and the rubber cap is formed with air passages at its sides through which the threaded edges of the shank project and engage the washer.
