Abstract

15,427. Alley, S. E. July 7. Radial-cylinder engines; valves and valve gear.- In an engine having several radial cylinders driving a single crank, an eccentric M on the. crank-shaft operates all the distributing-valves A, which are in the form of hollow rods and work in cylindrical valve-chests. A projection D in each valve-chest enters the valve and forms an abutment for a spring G which presses the valve against the eccentric. The distributing-passages S, T are controlled by a reversing-valve. In an engine having an overhung crank, the valves are worked by an eccentric pin.
