Signals, automatic-alarm.-A device for indicating the presence of stones or other bodies on the tyre of a motor-car or other vehicle consists of Ó spring- controlled plate a pivoted on a fixed axis d attached to a plate e carried on the framework of the vehicle. The plate a, having the end embracing the tyre shaped similarly to the tyre, is normally held in an horizontal plane passing through the centre of the wheel b of the vehicle, and carries a stud g which in this normal position holds up a spring f. On depression of the plate a, the spring f is released and completes an electric circuit through the contact f the circuit being through a bell and battery in series. A similar device is attached to each wheel, and by an indicator or a series of switches the particular wheel which has taken up the foreign body is pointed out. The spring f and contact f<2> are enclosed in a casing h<1>, but the spring and contact may be arranged in the box in which the axis d and the control spring therefor are mounted. For the steering-wheels, the apparatus is carried on a bracket fixed on the moving axis of wheel.
