Gargles.-A gargle paste consists of a mixture of (1) absorbing-substances soluble in water such as sugar or glycerine, (2) antiseptics such as chinosol, (3) relishing substances such as eugenol, menthol, or geranium oil, and (4) a substance such as saponin for rendering the paste plastic. An example consists of 0À5 to 5 parts by weight of chinosol, 60 to 80 parts of sugar, 20 to 30 parts of glycerine, and 5 to 9-5 parts of relishing substances. A little saccharin may be added, and a little fuchsin as colouring-matter.
