Abstract

13,161. Wilson, W. June 7. Plug cocks; locking valves and cocks.-A safety stop-cock or valve for gas stoves, water-heaters, or the like, as shown in Fig. 1 for a duplex burner, comprises a gas-supply cock B', to which is fitted a by-pass tap D and burner D', and a second burnersupply cock C'. The tap D is fitted with a pawl E which engages automatically with a ridge F on the tap C<1> when the supply cock B! is closed and prevents this cock from being opened again until the by-pass tap D is turned on and the pawl removed. The by-pass is supplied from the main passage A<1>, Figs. 3 and 6, through the race B<4> and passage B3 when the main cock B' is closed, but, when this is open, the by-pass supply takes place through a small passage A<2>, as shown in Fig. 6.
