[Published under Patents Act, 1901.] Elastic-fluid turbines.-Relates to means for balancing end thrust in combined velocity- and pressure-flow turbines of the kind described in Specification No. 767, A.D. 1906. Steam from the inlet a passes in one direction through a set of velocity-flow blades band its direction is then reversed and it passes along a channel g to the pressure-flow blades c. The shoulder e on the drum is exposed to the steam pressure and assists in balancing the end thrust. In modifications, the position and size of the shoulder e are varied.
