Abstract

11,395. Lamure, P. May 15, 1905, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Carburetting.-The vapour of oil or other liquid fuel is drawn by means of a pump through a porous vaporizer 3 with radial ribs 4, which also serves as a filter, and is forced through a porcelain retort heated by the exhaust of an internal-combustion engine, where the vapour is fixed, and thence through an air-mixing chamber to a surface cooling-apparatus 22, where it may mix with more air before entering the engine cylinder. The pump is worked through a Stevenson link-motion controlled by the governor, or it may be dispensed with and the engine piston may draw the charge through the apparatus, the admission valve being worked mechanically. The cooler 22 is constructed as shown in section in Fig. 5. The combustible mixture may be collected in a reservoir under pressure and be used for starting or for lighting and heating purposes in a motor-car.
