Abstract

8071. Knight, F. C., and Pearce, H. V. April 3. Dust &c., separating from air.-In a reverberatory or other furnace for smelting ores or for other purposes, the waste gases pass through, but not into the stack, thereby heating the stack, and, after passing through tortuous chambers, from which any deposition may be recovered, enter the stack within the heated zone and so regain enough heat to maintain the draught. The outlet flue 4 passes through the stack beneath an arch 3, and opens into a chamber 5, and the gases after passing through this chamber pass around baffle 9, 10 in a chamber 8, and through flues 11, 12, and enter the stack above the arch.
