Type.-Printing-surfaces in type or other form, and more particularly applicable to the printing of large characters, designs, or the like such as posters or wall-papers, are made with a contact - surface of linoleum or other similar material having the characteristics of linoleum. This surface is secured upon a flat or cylindrical base by means of glue, cement, &c. or by clips or plates adapted to embrace two or more edges of the material.
