Abstract
4959. Beardmore & Co., W., and Bremberg, A. March 1. Field carriages.-The trail B is mounted upon a cranked axle A, A' which may be secured in either of the positions shown in Figs. 1 and 2 for firing at low or high elevations respectively. The invention relates to the securing-means, and in one construction consists of links C connected at their forward ends to studs on the inner cheeks of the axle and axial with the parts A thereof. The rear ends of the links, shown in sectional plan in Fig. 5, are slotted at C<3> to engage the ends of a shaft B<g> passing transversely through the trail. At its ends the shaft carries lugs B3, which when the shaft is rotated by the lever B<4>, engage the ends of the links C and look them against longitudinal movement, thus securing the trail in either position. Modifications are described in the devices for connecting the ends of the links to the axle and trail.
