Abstract

2596. Krõmer, W. Feb. 2. Brakes.-In a railway vehicle, a supplementary brake mechanism is provided to force the ordinary brake blocks which act upon the wheels on to the rails. The piston-rod of an additional brake cylinder a is pivoted to a lever b, fixed on a shaft which also carries levers c, d. When the piston is forced out, the toggles f, g and f<1>, g<1> are straightened, and the blocks, in addition to acting on the wheels, are forced on to the rails. The blocks of the other wheel are similarly actuated through a rod k pivoted to the lever c. The blocks are connected to the ordinary brake rigging by a bolt and slot to permit of their being moved downwardly by the supplementary rigging.
