Abstract

1408. Richards, W. A., and Sutcliffe, E. R. Jan. 18. Roofing-tiles.-The tile, which is preferably of diamond shape, is formed with ribs D, F, G on the upper face and a rib C on the lower face, the rib C fitting over the rib F as shown in the section. The rib D and the lower edge B of the tile are bevelled to reduce the resistance to the wind. The ribs F, G separate at the top, and the space between them is recessed to form a well H, adapted to collect any water passing through the joint of the overlapping tiles. The back of the tile is provided with a hanging-nib I, grooves J to prevent water from entering the roof by capillary attraction, and a frog K to strengthen the tile. flalf-tiles are used for the ridge and eaves.
