Abstract

26,705. Giron, P. Jan. 14, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Siphon bottles; aerating liquids. - An apparatus for aerating the contents of siphon bottles by means of capsules of compressed gas comprises a cylindrical part a embracing the spout z<1>, a hook b embracing the siphon head, and a stirrup c engaging the lever. The part a carries a screw d with a nut f terminating in a cup f and a sliding block g fitted with a piercer g<3> and prevented from rotating by a pin i passing through a slot g<5>. A capsule is inserted between the block g and cup f and the screw d rotated. The block is pressed against the spout and the hook b and stirrup c are drawn downwards on the siphon head and open the valve. The capsule is then opened by the piercer and gas passes into the siphon. The siphon is closed either by releasing the stirrup c from the lever or by unscrewing the screw d. When more capsules than one are to be used for charging the contents of one siphon bottle, the sliding block is provided with a non-return valve e, Fig. 4, and is adapted to be forced against the spout, to lower the hook a and stirrup c by a milled ring m having helicoidal stops p into which project pins o on the block. According to the Specification in the original form as published under the Act of 1901, the screw d and cup f<1> may be replaced by a cradle for the capsule which screws on to a part a surrounding the sliding block g, and pressure between the block and the spout is produced by a projection on the block engaging with the cradle. The device may be adapted for aerating with gas from a cylinder supplied through a reducing-valve, either by a capsule-shaped piece with or without a valve, provided with a side nozzle, or where a non-return valve is used as shown in Fig. 4, by a nozzle, attached by externally screwing on to the part a, the screw d and nut f being dispensed with. This subject-matter does not appear in the Complete Specification as accepted.
