Abstract

24,709. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Feb. 15, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Telescopes; polemoscopes.- Relates to periscopic sighting-telescopes for ordnance in which a rotatable reflector enables objects out of the direct line of sight to be sighted without moving the eyepiece. Means are provided to allow of direct sighting independently of the rotatable reflector. For this purpose a second objective M and a reflecting prism N are provided as shown in Fig. 3, which is a sectional plan. A roof-edge prism E is mounted in a rotatable casing P at the intersection of the axes of the two objectives B, M and the eyepiece A, these three axes being mutually at right-angles as shown. When it is desired to change from indirect to direct sighting, the prism E is turned from the position shown in Fig. 2 to that shown in Fig. 3, by a handle Q' on a sleeve Q arranged as shown. The sleeve is locked in either of its two positions by a spring- pressed bolt R engaging notches in a wing Q<2>. The mirror C and the erecting-prism D are geared together as shown and operated by worm gearing.
