Abstract

23,922. Chilton, W., and Brush Electrical Engineering Co. Nov. 20. Elastic-fluid turbines. -Both the moving and fixed blades are made from metal blanks stamped to shape and connected together at their outer edges for strength. Several modifications are described. In one case, blades are made from T- shaped blanks, the'lower part of which may be formed as shown at e, Fig. 3, to afford a firm attachment to the cylinder or the spindle, the upper parts being bent forwards at b, c, for attachment to the next blade. In a modification, the parts b, c of one blade do not overlap those of the next, but separate strips of metal are used to which the parts b, c are riveted or brazed. In another instance, the blades are connected on one side only instead of on both. In a further modification, the blades are formed as in Fig. 9, with a connecting-strip which may be riveted or brazed outside, as shown, or between the parts i, h. The strips g may be turned to fit the cylinder or the spindle of the turbine. The blades also may have their edges n, o, Fig. 3, reduced to knife-edges.
