Abstract
23,689. Purser, A. J., and Perry, W. M. Nov. 17. Hose reels. - Hose reels &c. are made collapsible by forming them of rings separated by hinged or telescopic stays. Fig. 2 shows a form consisting of two rings separated by folding cranked struts b made in two parts b<1>, b<9>, pivoted to the rings and to pins b<6>, and locked in position when the reel is expanded by nuts e<1>. The everlapping parts are provided with tongues b<8> engaging with notches b<9> when the nuts c<1> are tightened. The reel is braced when expanded by means of rods d the ends of which may form the hinge pins on which the parts b turn. Fig. 8 shows a form, in which the two parts of the struts b are hinged so as to fold inwards when the reel is collapsed. In this form, they are locked when the reel is expanded by the rods d. Fig. 10 shows a form in which the struts b are hinged to both rings so that the reel folds after the manner of a parallel ruler. In another form, the stays are hinged to one ring and bolted to the other so that on the one ring being removed the stays may be folded.
