Abstract
17,839. Blackmore, W., and Howard, A., [trading as Blackmore & Howard]. Sept. 4. Iron sulphate.-In a process for treating pyritic ores containing gold, silver, or other valuable metals, the pulverized ore is treated, at about 800 F., with steam and air in regulated quantities so as to convert the iron present into normal or basic sulphate with the least possible admixture of oxide. The mass is then leached with water containing sulphuric or other acid liquors. The iron, together with any copper, cobalt, and nickel present, is dissolved, the latter metals beiog recovered by ordinary precipitants, the iron being left in the solution.
