Abstract
17,373. Belliss & Morcom, and Jude, A. Aug. 28. Making turbines.-Relates to methods of constructing and assembling blades for the fixed and moving parts of turbines such as are described in Specification No. 24,570, A.D. 1904. Wheel blades b, Fig. 5, have shanks b<1> which are bent over and inserted in notches formed in the wheel or in a ring C, so that the intervening pieces of metal c<1> form distancepieces and may be upset to secure the blades in position. The shanks may be either doubled over or single, and they may be dovetailed and the blades secured by squeezing the sides of the groove. Blades b, Fig. 12, of very oblique arrangement, have their shanks b<1> twisted and inserted in a narrow groove B<1>, where they are gripped by the sides of the groove. Or the blades may be secured in a wide groove without twisting their shanks by means of two stepped filling-pieces.
