16,586. Youlten, W. Dec. 20, 1904, [date applied for under Section 26 (8) of Patents &c. Act. 1883, being the date of revocation of Patent No. 1131, A.D. 1903]. Rotary brushes for use in cotton &c. wool working machines. The ginning-roller consists of a tube on which is wound wire-card, or a similar material containing bristles or hair in place of wire. The material is wound so that the bristles or wire point in the direction in which the roller is desired to rotate, and then the roller is immersed in a composition, consisting of glue, whilening, and treacle, which forms a hard matrix from which the wire teeth &c. protrude to a slight extent only. The fibre is removed from the ginning-roller by a cardcovered doffer or other doffing-comb, or by means of a brush such as that shown in Fig. 2. The brush is made up of a number of sections j<6>, provided with arms j<9> carrying at their extremities bristles j<12>, the sections being strung upon a shaft in such a manner that the bristles of adjacent sections are not in line with one another.
