Packing-cases.-In a case for holding bottles of the "mallet shape," the bottles are placed directly in the case, the use of straw envelopes being dispensed with. The bottles B are laid in the box A alternately end for end, the bottom-ends B' being spaced apart by wooden blocks C, Figs. 5 and 6. The blocks are provided with recesses c to contain the neck ends of the interposing bottles. In a modification, the necks of the bottles are retained in position by a partition D, Fig. 4, the ends resting loosely in spacing- blocks C<1>.
