Abstract

14,187. Brewer, G., [Kettle Stitch Sewing Machine Co.]. July 10. Bookbinding.-Various forms of stitching for bookbinding are described, in which two or more threads are engaged by hooked needles, passed through the signatures at points in line with one another, taKen along inside and passed outwards through the signatures, and looped after the manner of a chain or double-looped stitch. Figs. 1 and 8 show stitches in which the threads are all laid in the same direction and form double-loop stitches. In Fig. 4, the threads are shown as laid in opposite directions and forming chain stitches, and, in Fig. 7, as laid alternately in either direction.
