Abstract

13,590. Siemens Bros. & Co., [Siemens Schuckertwerke Ges.]. July 1. Switches.-In switches for coinfreed mechanism, time-switches, &c. the first movement of an operating- handle sets two springs, and the second movement releases a detent and allows one spring to close the switch. The handle and the switch then remain locked until a detent holding the second spring is moved aside by some other means. Starting from the open position of Fig. 1, the handle a when pushed in the direction of the arrow turns the lever d about the pivot c, stretching the springs e, f, until the end is caught by the detent h. During this movement the detent-lever m is raised by the spring n against the stop o. The handle, when withdrawn, passes the lever m, and draws back the detent p, allowing the spring e to turn a lever and close the double-pole switch u, v, Fig. 2. The handle cannot now be pushed back past the detent m, nor can the switch be opened till the detent h is drawn back, either, as shown, by an electro-magnet in an auxiliary circuit controlled by clock-work or counting-mechanism, or by other means, such as a falling weight or clock-work. In a modification shown in Fig. 3, the levers d<1>, r<1> may be pivoted on the same shaft a', turned by a crank with an arm b<1> instead of the slide a.
